Dwellings is an ongoing project, initially inspired by the lesnes estate on which Amanda lives: six tower blocks and multiple houses are set for demolition there. This is part of a much broader redevelopment scheme, and she is in a unique position as a resident to bear witness as the estate is being physically degraded during the slow transition.
Amanda wants to open up a conversation about housing and the use, misuse, and non-use of properties in England. She recently held a work-in-progress exhibition as part of PhotoMonth 2025, showing images from Dwellings, and giving space for dialogue amongst visitors. She was also part of a panel discussion at Dr Sofia Greaves’ exhibition (Un) Affordable Housing on 24th October. This was the culmination of Greaves’ research this summer around a Bow Arts scheme that provides affordable housing for artists, through an agreement with Peabody Housing, and utilising some of their ‘end of life’ properties.
