Amanda is very active in the Thamesmead art-scene, and alongside her photography practice, she offers various workshops and participatory events. She has pooled together various artists to deliver a series of workshops, which can be attended as one-offs, or people can sign up for all six. Open To Ideas will run from October 2026 until January 2027, and include Cyanotype printing, Poetry, painting and forest bathing. Amanda will be facilitating two sessions herself, as outlined below…

Talking Tables

Talking Tables is based on the concept of a Long Table discussion: a framework that allows people to join in conversations in the round. There is no hierarchical structure, and people are welcome to pose difficult questions or offer a conundrum for others to respond to. An example of a prompt might be: Keeping calm in a chaotic world: At a time when we feel overloaded with information, bombarded with doom-laden news, and aware that our environment may struggle to sustain us, how can we find the tools to stay grounded, amidst all this data? 

This is an opportunity to learn from each other, and to benefit from seeing things from multiple perspectives. By discussing big ideas in simple ways, or simple ideas in big ways, we will stretch our thinking and hear other views without pressure or prejudice. There is no pressure to talk, and prompts will be offered, but participants are encouraged to arrive with their own questions and an open mind.

Refreshments will be provided, and there is an optional short movement/ yoga offering afterwards for anyone who wants to join in.
